Pinewood Village is an 8 hectare site with a perimeter boundary of 1,2 kilometers. The perimeter boundary is secured with a high voltage electric fence as well as monitored security cameras. Entrance / exit to the village for residents, visitors, contractors, staff, domestic workers etc is controlled 24 hours per day by two duty guards from an outsourced security firm.
The impressive Community Centre complex offers the villagers of Pinewood Village a homely and comfortable lounge with a fireplace creating a cosy atmosphere during the winter months - tastefully furnished with couches and chairs, a piano and DSTV for entertainment.
The large dining room, seating 150 people, offers daily luncheons (except on Saturdays) for all residents. A special menu is available for those residents who have dietary problems - the caterers strive to please all the residents. On Sundays, a special luncheon for the residents and families and friends is available. Visitors are welcome to join residents during the week as well.
The extended and refurbished library has been named after Constance and Margaret Errington, who left a generous bequest to Pinewood Village. The library faces onto the Memorial Rose Garden and offers hours of leisurely reading. It is open daily and local newspapers are available together with numerous books, magazines, DVD's and puzzles, many of which have been donated by residents and their families.
A laundry is available with coin operated washing machines and tumble-dryers capable of handling large domestic items which residents are not able to cope with at home.
The Garden Committee oversees the maintenance of all common areas in the village. Limited work in private gardens is undertaken on a fortnightly cycle which includes mowing and edge trimming. The work is done by an outsourced garden contractor. These costs are included in the monthly levy. More intensive gardening may require a private gardener to the resident's own cottage and will be to the resident's own account.
Two modern hospitality suites are available at a reasonable daily rate for residents who have family or friends visiting. The suites sleep 4 people each and are self-catering. Bookings are made at Reception.
